Daily Miracles
I just finished reading a book called “The Hiding Place” about the account of Corrie ten Boom, the daughter of a watchmaker in Holland who was part of the resistance in WWII when Holland was invaded by Germany. It tells of her family and the life of two sisters whose lives were inescapably guided by the hand of God. It was quite a testament to God’s merciful love for those who keep his Word in their heart and grasp the meaning that God’s ways are not our ways. There was no one definitive act of God, but it was through the small daily miracles and acts of God that saved Corrie and her family and guided their lives. The story made me really take note that having faith does not necessarily make your life more comfortable or safe; He may use your faith to minister to others in such a godforsaken place as a concentration camp.
This book has been sitting on my shelf for almost two years and I have tried to read it on several occasions and just never made it past the first few pages. It was as if this time the book was yelling out "read me!" and I did. What an enlightening and enriching story of Corrie and her sister's enduring faith and courage.
We never really know what each new day will bring -- whether it be decisions to make or hardships to bear. ~ Love, Momma Richter
