STATIC
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines static as: characterized by a lack of movement or change. Sometimes being "static" is a wonderful state of being, a safe place, a sure place -- especially when you are raising a family and just living day to day...... However, by definition, "static" would sometimes mean dull and boring, ho-hum, blah, blah, blah. With both of the boys grown, but not necessarily gone, my husband and I fantasize about just dropping out of our lives, moving away and not telling anyone, starting over. Not because we have an awful life, or don't like the people in our lives, or whatever, but just because sometimes life is STATIC. We have always done what we were supposed to, what was expected of us, and tried to be a good example for our children.
So until the time we can run away and no longer be static, we listen to old music and really listen to the words -- the far away places and images some of these songs conjures up lets us get away, if even only for a few short minutes, to the places they sing about, and if you close your eyes, listen really, really hard and sometime even read the lyrics you can see images such as "She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running, Like a watercolor in the rain" then you just say "wow, isn't that beautiful!" - Take a little journey! - Love, Momma Richter
